Pre-Christmas Rush

It's on!!

Finally sorting through photos and just had to scrap these...Rainer's first ever school award for.....handwriting!!! Gotta love Prep!!

Felicity's Free Online Class at Bon's using the yummy Boy Kit!!

Catching up on the SCRAP YOUR YEAR layouts for the In-Laws!!

And, of course, Christmas Cards.
These made with a gorgeous Hero Arts Stamp.

These with the free Christina Re paper in Scrapbooking Memories yonks ago.

These made with those fab layered Prima Flowers.

Bought the bells from Spotlight...super-duper easy.

In the last month, we've had a few milestones! Rainer is sitting in Mass now for the full hour; we have lots of echolalia (repeating of words/phrases); his receptive language seems to be off the charts (woohoo); we commemorated 10 years since my Nonna died and 2 years since my Dad died. It's been an emotional rollercoaster this year and I couldn't have made it this far without LOTS of support - both IRL and online.

In 3 days we'll be celebrating the birth of Jesus, and in 5 days we'll be celebrating the birth of Giovanna!! Yes! Me! We'll be holidaying and spending some much-needed family time together the next 4 weeks. Michael will need to travel a lot next year, so I'm preparing for that!!

Until next year.....when I'll have my new WORD...

and Merry Christmas!!

Class No 2 announcement!

Hi all
Would you mind much if we postponed the second class until next year?
I know I haven't had much time off since the holidays began, and we've moved furniture around to accommodate Rainer's Home Therapy space, so it's all a bit chaotic here.
I'm sure you all need a break too from my constant demanding ways!! LOL
Okay, Rainer is now tugging and the noise is escalating....I really am yearning for January LOL.
Here is my layout in Scrapbook Creations #72.

I absolutely love this layout and am so please Ngaire snaffled it from me.
I'd like to thank Ngaire for all her support in 2009, both artistically and personally...one of the most generous, warmest and funniest ladies I know. It's a joy to be published in a magazine, but the significance of having a scrapper you admire single you out for the Top Ten Feature is beyond words. It's edifying; you've been acknowledged by your peers. It's awesome!!
Ngaire has stepped down from sub-editing the Top Ten, and Ree Roffey is taking over. I'm sure she has an equally inspiring bevy of scrap-beauties to extend us in 2010.

A song? I know I'll find my 2010 "word" in these lyrics. I think this should be playing in everyone's home the next few weeks. So relevant...even for Bob Evans LOL.
promise it won't blare out at you like the Bobby Brown link...pmsl.. that's for you Skye!!!
Until I find that word...you'll have to be content with this one...

OOPS...nearly forgot to mention... I WON A 3 MONTH KIT SUBSCRIPTION AT BON'S SCRAPS!!! So relieved, excited and thankful. xx

Thinking of EveryThinG...

Let's see if I can remember everything that's happened in a week.....
Inkredible's VIP Night

These girls were way too keen for me to come to the very last one of this year. I hadn't been to any VIP night or class for a while, so I figured they'd just missed me (boohoohoo...)
Instead, they surprised me with a yummy Choccy Mud Birthday Cake and a lovely present!!!!!

This is a pic of the other bits and pieces I picked up...as well as more paper (yeah, could't help myself LOL)
Thank you Tamara and Kathleen for all your support and friendship this year. I look forward to next year - lots of success and creativity to you both!!

Ummm, next. We got a new retaining wall at the front and driveway. Just enough to keep Rainer from scooting off again - which really adds to the grey hairs!!

It was also Mackinley's first week of school hols, so we have "Mack & Mum" trips.

This holidays we went to the Science Centre and I also took him around the State Library which is such an impressive way to study!!!! Took the lift to Philip Bacon Gallery where they had the best political cartoons of 2008. Surprisingly, he loved it!!!

Lots of trips to the neighbours and relatives for swims also. It's been crazy hot!!

Rainer finished Prep!! Feeling very relieved and a little emotional. I can't believe the total is now over $400 for the Sensory Room. I am keeping the money in a safe place until I get a proper list of equipment needed. I know what I want, but need to have a conversation before I go shopping (and a place to store it all LOL).

Scrapping!!! This is the layout for the final round of Bon's Kit Subscription Comp. I did the Write Now challenge....

Materials: spotty felt from Spotlight, circle paper is a Mombassa shopping bag, rainbow paper is Jessica Singh (in frankie magazine), giraffe is A2Z scraplet, Buzz&Bloom denim strip, Kaiser fozz felt and rhinestones, Scenic Route alphas, sequins.
Don't worry, none of it actually touches the photo, so this rare photo will last!

A lovely RAK from Kylie Beard.

Thank you Kylie. I have a good supply of mini books now so I'll have to fill them in 2010!!

Also, last night our first ever Street Party!! After 15 years living here, we have a Street Party. It was awesome. We coincided the party with the Rotary Santa visit.
Here is Santa throwing lollies out for the kids, and predictably there's a mosh pit like response.....love the photo!!!

And a lovely shot of the kids chasing Santa's trailer...oops, I mean SLEIGH, with the adults in the distance.

Okay, I think that's it. Terribly hungover but the weather is being kind today.

If you've come this far.....are you ready for another class?
So many people to thank already!! Keep your eyes open for some sneaks appearing next week and I'll have the new blog ready too....yipee!!!

p.s. need a new word for 2010!!

Friday 4 December 2009

Ebb & Flow

AS OF TODAY....
TOTAL AMOUNT RAISED

$320.00

YOU GIRLS ARE AWESOME!!!!!!

I'd like to thank from the bottom of my soul all the lovely ladies who participated in the class last night. Remember, to those who didn't make it last night, you still have access for as long as you need it. However, I am the impatient type and would love to see them in the gallery ASAP ....lol.

So, do you like what you see here????

If so, register your interest for another class to be held in a few weeks.
I will have it on a blog but it will be invitation only. Once your payment is received, I will give you the link and the special password to access the blog.
Please contact me for address details if you wish to send payment via snail mail.

Naturally, sneaks will be up in the next week.

Spread the word girlies. Would love to see a hundred of you here .... oh my goodness -- wouldn't that be awesome.

Some of you treasures have asked if you can teach a layout.
Well, of course you can. I would love you to share in the process. Email me if you would like to run one.

Remember, 100% of funds raised will be spent on equipment for the Sensory Room. There are no funds deducted for class materials, setting up blogs, someone else teaching a class, etc.

If you pay $10 - it's $10!!!
I think those of you that know me, know that already (heehee)

Love you all lots.
And those of you that know me, know that I mean it.

UNTIL THEN, NOURISH EACH OTHER WITH LOVE AND CONVERSATION. It truly mends the soul.

Few more layouts

This is the last week of BON'S 3 MONTH KIT SUBSCRIPTION COMP (phew)
The first part was to create a layout using handmade masks, holes and to tie something.

This tree design is inspired by Donna Downey's fabric range....this is the poor scrapper's version using bubble wrap and acrylic paint.

the holes (yes, very original LOL)

GLAM-mermist!! I am falling in love with this stuff. Easier to clean than paint!

BON'S SCRAPS CYBERCROP - This was Bon's Colour Challenge
Photo had to be with a friend...this is my angel.

BON'S SCRAPS 3 MONTH KIT COMP ENTRY
This challenge required you to assemble your own kit with certain bits and then create a layout.

Stole this nifty idea of running paper through your DYMO labeller from a class at Scrapboutique ;)

4 ASD Kids Charity Event

Hi,

We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to be part of The Classic Week at Sanctuary Cove. The Classic Week brings together corporate, celebrity and family guests for a series of fun sporting, entertainment and leisure events to raise money for charity. This year we are excited to announce that we are supporting Mat Rogers’ and Chloe Maxwell’s charity initiative, 4 ASD Kids.

This will be the very first event of many for 4 ASD Kids designed to raise money to support families with ASD children to receive the treatment that could provide them with the best chance of a normal life. The event will also help to raise awareness of Autism.

Event Schedule includes:

18-20 December, 2009

· Mat Rogers Celebrity Golf Day – Hope Island Golf Club

· Chloe Maxwell & Friends Ladies brunch at ioesco – this is an exciting addition to the Classic Weekend… delicious cuisine, champagne, fashion showcase, skincare advice, jewelry displays and more

· Classic Charity Gala – we will again have an exciting range of items and experience for auction with proceeds benefiting 4 ASD Kids.

· Sanctuary Cove Community Christmas Concert – Free family event in aid of 4 ASD Kids

Live entertainment over the weekend includes Dave Faulkner (Hoodoo Gurus), Mark Gable (Choirboys), Melinda Schneider (multi award winning country music artist and songwriter), Paulini, Danny Faifai, Casey Barnes, the Australian Girls Choir, tenor Lachlan Baker and much, much more.

You, your friends and families are invited to enjoy the entire weekend or simply attend a single event. Information brochures for the events can be downloaded at http://www.4asdkids.com/Pages/events.htm . If you are unable to join in we would be grateful if you could pass this information onto anyone who may like to support it.

In any way, in every way, this condition is touching us all.

I really need the class practice LOL.

And as always

I have booked in a little ME TIME on Monday...yipeeeee!!

Tuesday 24 November 2009

Can you join Me?

On Thursday 3rd December we will be celebrating!!

I will be holding an online scrapbooking class at 7.30pm (Brisbane time), hosted by the forever generous Bon Johnstone of BON'S SCRAPS.

All you need to do is REGISTER in the FORUM with Bon's Scraps prior to the 3rd December - it's that easy! You will have access to the classroom and a live forum chat with me and the other scrappers participating.
Cost of the class will be $10 (EFT details to follow) with all proceeds going towards the equipment needed at Rainer's school in their newly acquired SENSORY ROOM.

YOU CAN'T MAKE IT ON THE 3rd DECEMBER?
Don't fret.
I am setting up a separate blog/ning community where I will run yet another online class at a later date.

So, what is a SENSORY ROOM?
Well, we all have them, but don't realise. It's a place we retreat to when the world is just a tad bit overwhelming. For most of us, a little "me" time is all we need to recharge and reinvigorate. (My Sensory Room is my Scrap Table)

For children (and adults) with SENSORY PROCESSING DISORDERS (whether it's autism, aspergers, ADHD, depression or anxiety), we need specially selected items to stimulate some senses and decrease others - depending on the need of the child.
Here are some examples of a variety of Sensory Rooms around the world, and the types of furniture and toys on the Wish List.

HAMMOCKS!! lots and lots of hammocks
We have 2 already at home LOL. One for the kids and one for the adults.

So I hope you can join in the fun and help out some precious children at the same time.
